Kiss the What?

I like food.  (Did I mention that?)

I’m also quite fond of podcasts.  Gimme a geeky “Stuff You Missed in History Class” or a wonky “Left, Right, and Center” any day.

Combine food and podcasting, though?  Well, then that hour-long subway commute to Midtown Manhattan preceding my first cup o’ coffee ain’t so bad.

I first heard American Public Media’s “The Splendid Table” three years ago via podcast, and one line that host Lynne Rossetto Kasper used about a fellow chef has always stuck with me:

I kiss the hem of her apron.”

Gratitude.  Reverence.  Respect for those who wear the apron and wear it well.

Now, I’m not sure if anyone will ever kiss the hem of my anything, but the title remains:  I would gladly kiss the hem of the aprons of those who have whipped up meaningful (healthy!) meals for their own splendid tables and am eager to learn from and be inspired by them all.
